Lockout or not the NFL released the 2011 schedule on Tuesday. Not sure if it is a good thing the NFL is acting like there will be no disruption to the 2011 season with NFL owners and players so far apart on a new collective bargaining agreement. Other than the divisional opponents the three big games next season are week 2 against the Cowboys, week 12 with the 49ers playing on Thanksgiving night against the Ravens (Harbaugh vs. Harbaugh) and week 15 against the Steelers (49ers only Monday Night Football game). At this point it is hard to determine which games the 49ers will win and lose with the team not having a starting quarterback and with rosters changing for all teams after the draft and whenever free agency starts. Nevertheless here are the 49ers 2011 opponents with which games I think they will win and lose:
Week 1 (September 11): Seahawks at 49ers
Win: Great way to open the Jim Harbaugh era with a win at home against the hated Seahawks. Last season’s opener will be long forgotten.
Week 2 (September 18): Cowboys at 49ers
Win: 49es roll into week two high on Harbaugh and take down Tony Romo and the Cowboys.
Week 3 (September 25): 49ers at Bengals
Loss: 49ers get their first loss of the Harbaugh era in a close game with the Bengals pulling out the win in the final minutes.
Week 4 (October 2): 49ers at Eagles
Loss: Two straight road losses, is this Mike Singletary all over again?
Week 5 (October 9): Buccaneers at 49ers
Win: 49ers bounce back by shutting out the Buccaneers like the Bucs did to the 49ers at home last season.
Week 6 (October 16): 49ers at Lions
Win: There is no way Harbaugh has his team going into the bye week with a loss. First road win for Harbaugh.
Week 7: Bye
Week 8 (October 30): Browns at 49ers
Loss: In what should have been a win at home for the 49ers, mistakes doom them in the end.
Week 9 (November 6): 49ers at Redskins
Loss: 49ers continue the second half of the season on a losing streak.
Week 10 (November 13): Giants at 49ers
Win: Knowing the rivalry between the Giants and 49ers is huge Harbaugh gives an intense and inspiring pregame speech and the 49ers steam roll over the G-men.
Week 11 (November 20): Cardinals at 49ers
Win: Come on, it’s the Cardinals.
Week 12 Thursday Night Football (November 24): 49ers at Ravens
Loss: Brother vs. Brother. John wins this one.
Week 13 (December 4): Rams at 49ers
Win: Close game between two heated rivals who are two of the hottest teams going down the stretch.
Week 14 (December 11): 49ers at Cardinals
Win: Again, it’s the Cardinals.
Week 15 Monday Night Football (December 19): Steelers at 49ers
Win: The 49ers pull off their biggest upset of the season on national television.
Week 16 (December 24): 49ers at Seahawks
Loss: 49ers end their three game losing streak in Seattle, a place they can never seem to win at.
Week 17 (January 1): 49ers at Rams
Win: Season sweep of the Rams does not come easy but the 49ers finish the season beating St. Louis.
Final Record for 49ers: 10-6, NFC West Champions…all with Alex Smith under center, ha. If Smith is under center for the 49ers next season you can reverse my prediction to 6-10.
Opponents 2010 combined record: 119-137-0
