49ers to Meet with Harbaugh Today is reporting the 49ers will interview Stanford head coach Jim Harbaugh today.  As I write this they may be meeting.  This is exciting news as Harbaugh lives in the Bay Area with his family which gives the 49ers an edge.  In the report my fears of Harbaugh possibly being turned-off by the inexperience in the 49ers front office has some truth to it:

“Harbaugh has been advised by several confidants to be wary of some of the personnel and football-operation problems that have plagued the 49ers, but the team is making a strong push. Harbaugh already lives in the Bay Area with his young family, and several sources close to the situation estimate the 49ers as the favorites right now, with ample potential for a deal to be quickly completed.”

Brining Harbaugh in for an interview is a great first step.  With the Broncos and Dolphins also interested it is not a given that the 49ers will land Harbaugh as their next head coach.  The good thing is this situation should be sorted out by week’s end as Harbaugh wants to let Stanford know what his plans are sooner rather than later and new GM Trent Baalke wants a new coach in place by Friday.  The Raiders offensive coordinator Hue Jackson has been interviewed twice and it is said that he impressed the 49ers.  It is funny because Jackson interviewed with Mike Singletary back in 2009 for offensive coordinator.  Instead the 49ers went with Jimmy Raye and we all know how that went.  Jackson impressed the 49ers with his success developing young quarterbacks and implementing a good offensive system with the Raiders.   Wait, didn’t the 49ers need someone who could work with a young quarterback and provide consistency at offensive coordinator back in 2009?  Good move Singletary.  Stay tuned for the 49ers next head coach…
