Forbes.com Release Values of NFL Teams

AUTHOR: | IN: 49ers, Fanzone/Tailgating, NFL, Popular, The Bay Area | COMMENTS: None Yet

According to Forbes.com the overall value of NFL teams fell 2% last season to $1.02 billion.  This is the first time teams overall worth declined since Forbes started tracking team values in 1998.  Where do you think your San Francisco 49ers ranked? The 49ers are worth $925 million and rank 22nd in league value. When you see where the 49ers rank you might think revenue fell for the team.  They were however one of only five NFL teams to be worth more this year than last.  The 49ers value increased 6%.  The NFL team with the best value is the [...]

49ers Edge Vikings 15-10

AUTHOR: | IN: 49ers, Gameday, NFL, Preseason, The Bay Area, Training Camp | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Thanks to a 12-play, 70-yard touchdown opening drive by Alex Smith and a payback sack by Patrick Willis made Brett Favre’s debut last all of four plays.  Most importantly Smith excelled compared to his start against the Colts.  On the opening drive there were a few passing plays where the pocket was collapsing and I thought Smith was going to go down for a sack but he stepped up in the pocket and made plays.

Minnesota Favre’s are Coming to Town

AUTHOR: | IN: 49ers, Fanzone/Tailgating, Gameday, Injuries, NFL, Popular, Training Camp | COMMENTS: None Yet

The NFL’s attention will be on the Vikings vs. 49ers football game tonight at 5:00 PM.  The nationally televised game on NBC will be most likely be the most hyped preseason game with the unretired/re-retired/one ankle Brett Favre and all the media attention surrounding his first start.  Last time we saw the Vikings we were burned by Favre in the final seconds and robbed of a win.  Good thing this time around is Favre won’t get another chance at a lucky heave down the field for a win.  Favre will most likely play one or two series.  Here is what [...]

The Curious Case of Glen Coffee

AUTHOR: | IN: 49ers, Fanzone/Tailgating, NFL, Rumors, The Bay Area, Training Camp | COMMENTS: None Yet

Last Friday after a game of disk golf I was getting drinks at Underdog’s in San Francisco with a friend who told me that Glen Coffee had retired.  My initial reaction was disbelieve and I asked, ‘Are you sure it was Coffee that retired?’ ‘You must have confused Coffee with another 49er player.’  And the questions went on and all the answers were Coffee did retire.

Gore Approves of Westbrook Signing

AUTHOR: | IN: 49ers, Fanzone/Tailgating, NFL, Popular, The Bay Area, Training Camp | COMMENTS: None Yet

Frank Gore said on Tuesday that the 49ers approached him to get his approval before they signed running back Brian Westbrook. “I knew that we needed another back, and he was the best one out there. I think he can help this team and help me to be a better player. I know he can help this team get better and help us go to another level, so I’m fine with it,” said Gore. When news broke that Westbrook was signed I immediately thought there is no way Gore will have a problem with the signing.  Gore has been the [...]

Niner Noise Web Hosting: Site5.com

AUTHOR: | IN: 49ers | COMMENTS: Comments Off

Web hosting can be a hassle. There’s no way to precisely project incoming traffic, for starters. Also, if your server gets rocked by an influx of traffic or is for some reason experiencing technical difficulties, you want someone you can get in touch with no matter the time of day. Easier said than done, because even in the age of cell phones, texting, Twitter and Facebook, it can be hard to track down family and friends, let alone the help at your hosting company. Fortunately, we here at FanSided haven’t had those problems since we started working with exclusively with [...]

49ers Sign Brian Westbrook

AUTHOR: | IN: 49ers, Fanzone/Tailgating, NFL, The Bay Area, Training Camp | COMMENTS: None Yet

With the abrupt retirement of second year running back Glen Coffee a spot opened up at number two on the 49ers running back depth chart.  Rookie Anthony Dixon took advantage of the opportunity rushing for 100 yards and one touchdown on 23 carries in the preseason opener win against the Colts.  To fill Coffee’s roster spot the 49ers on Monday signed former Eagles running back Brian Westbrook.  Westbrook will be a great addition for the 49ers.  It early to say whether or not Westbrook will the fantasy stud of the past or if his injuries are too many to overcome [...]

Kentwan Balmer’s Future Uncertain with 49ers

AUTHOR: | IN: 49ers, Fanzone/Tailgating, NFL, The Bay Area, Training Camp | COMMENTS: None Yet

For a guy that was selected 29th overall in the 2008 draft, has not made one NFL start and only has 19 tackles with no sacks in 27 games, Kentwan Balmer’s absence from training camp this week is not smart and is not sitting well with Mike Singletary.  Balmer was given Monday and Tuesday off for personal reasons however he was a no show for practice on Wednesday which was not excused by Singletary. “I told Kentwan to be here this morning. He was not. I don’t know what he’s doing but there is not going to be any phone [...]

Anthony Davis and Mike Iupati Named Starters

AUTHOR: | IN: 49ers, Fanzone/Tailgating, Injuries, NFL, Popular, The Bay Area | COMMENTS: None Yet

After the first full week of training camp Mike Singletary named Anthony Davis the starting right tackle and Mike Iupati the starting left guard on the offensive line.  Davis, selected 11th, and Iupati, selected 17th, were expected to be named starters with how high they were drafted.  No surprise in both being named starters to protect quarterback Alex Smith but I was surprised to see they were named so early in training camp.  Trust me, this is a good surprise.  This means Singletary has seen enough of the two to know they can handle all the snaps with the first-team [...]
