Consistency at Coordinator Reason Why 49ers Will be Winners in 2010

AUTHOR: | IN: 49ers, Fanzone/Tailgating, NFL, Popular, The Bay Area | COMMENTS: None Yet

The last time the 49ers had the same offensive and defensive coordinators in back-to-back seasons was 2002-2003 when Greg Knapp and Jim Mora Jr. were the play callers.  This season the 49ers will have Jimmy Raye returning as offensive coordinator and Greg Manusky as defensive coordinator, a position he has held since 2007.  In addition to the talent on defense the consistency at defensive coordinator is a main reason why the 49ers defense has been getting better in each season since 2007. Last week the 49ers showed their linebacker love for Patrick Willis by making him the highest paid linebacker in the NFL with a five-year contract extension worth up to $50 million.  No one will doubt that signing Willis now was the wise choice even with two years left on his old contract.  Willis has an NFL high 467 tackles since he joined the league in 2007 and has made the Pro Bowl every year. With the Willis signing it got me thinking about how he was a draft pick that changed the 49ers team.  The 49ers have had many players [...]

Join fellow San Franciscans and the 49er Faithful Wednesday, May 5, at 6:00PM upstairs at Pete’s Tavern- across from AT&T Park on King Street between 2nd and 3rd Streets, to learn about what’s right with the San Francisco stadium plan for a new, privately financed football stadium for our San Francisco 49ers at Hunters Point and what wrong with the plan to try to squeeze a football stadium on an undersized, underparked and transit challenged site in Santa Clara that utilized hundreds of millions in public funds and new ticket licenses. Join San Francisco City and County Planning Commission member Mike Antonini, [...]
