Seeing Mike Singletary install a smash-mouth type of play will be a huge difference from what we have experienced with Mike Nolan, Dennis Erickson and Steve Mariucci the last decade. This has to be Vernon Davis' year. He has bought into what Singletary is selling and even he knows that all the muscle mass in the world will not lead you to being the top tight end in the NFL. If Davis can't have a breakout year this season he never will. I am very excited to see what Kentwan Balmer will do in his second season and first as a starter. There is a reason why he was selected 29th in the 2008 draft.

I was born in 1982 and was raised on the "Finesse Ass 49ers" style of play for almost 15 years. It will be quite a change to see some good ole' smash-mouth play on both sides of the ball this year. I predict breakout years for Kentwan and Vernon. Kentwan spent the offseason working with Justin Smith. Only good can come from it. And I feel Vernon will get the play-calling that he needs to accentuate his "possession receiver" style of play. And 2000 all-purpose yards for Frankie. Go Niners.
