MCT Where Are Thee? A Poem for Crabtree

Wide Receiver Michael Crabtree has entered into his second day of his contract holdout.  Running back Glenn Coffee signed a four year deal with the Niners right before training camp started.  Hopefully the signing will motivate Crabtree who I have dubbed MCT.  In the meantime here is a poem I wrote for Crabtree:

MCT Where Are Thee?

NFL draft slipped to number ten

Passed over by everyone including Al Davis and his men

Contract holdout, demands top money

Potential bust factor, your agent is funny

All while rehabbing a foot that was broken

We didn’t see you in OTA’s, you have shown nothing, so why are you so outspoken?

A star at Texas Tech, but this is not college

Each day of holdout you lose gaining offensive knowledge

We have Morgan, Jones and an aging Bruce

The longer you wait the more your value on the team is reduced

Don’t listen to your agent, listen to yourself

If you say HOLDOUT, fine with us we will place you on the shelf

MCT where are thee?

Your talent is key

For the Red and Gold to raise again

I feel that we as football fans are too starved for news at this point in the offseason that we make too big a deal of this situation. Any time you mixed talent with greed and throw in the vast amount of variables that come with any contract negotiations, you will have scenarios like this. The fact is that the 49ers receiving corps is relatively solid at this point and as long as we don’t have a Jamarcus situation on our hands, a late signing by Crabby is not a huge deal. Yes he is missing valuable time. Yes he should shut up and take the money. But the amount of playing time he is expected to see this season is minimal at best leaving plenty of time to acclimate to the league. As the true Faithful that we are, let’s take our focus off of one relatively greedy rookie and focus on the promise that this next season truly holds for us. Bottom line:
