Santa Clara residents will get to voice their opinion tonight on using city money to build a new stadium for the 49ers. As with anything in the United States citizens have the ultimate say and they will voice their official opinion sometime in March 2010. However little is known as to whether or not Santa Clara residents are in favor or against using $80 million of city money to fund the project. I would not be surprised if more citizens come out against building a new stadium than those in favor. Not because of my obvious bias but if anyone reads a newspaper in California all they see is the Golden State going bankrupted, so the sales pitch of using $80 million from any city budget to build a new stadium for a sports team might be tough.

Eric Melendez has been a life-long 49ers fan that bleeds Red and Gold. While growing up in Orange, CA he was behind enemy lines when the Rams played in Anaheim in the ’80s and most of the ’90s. This however allowed him to see the 49ers every year when they came into town as his dad had season tickets for the Rams. Having lived in San Francisco since 2008, his appreciation for the Niners has only grown as he is able to cheer on the 49ers with locals at the bar and attend home games.
