Veteran free agent QB Damon Huard signed with the 49ers yesterday. As mention in the previous post Huard will be used as a back-up and is not expected to compete for the starting job with incumbent QB Shaun Hill and Alex Smith. Huard was with the Chiefs the last five years and appeared in five games last year going 50 of 81 in completions for 477 yards with two touchdowns and four interceptions.

The Niners also signed defensive end Demetric Evans who played with the Redskins last year. He signed a two year deal worth $3.8 million. Evans will be a solid back-up for fellow defensive ends Kentwan Balmer and Justin Smith.
