No Vick, The Combine and 49ers WR Prospects

AUTHOR: | IN: NFL, Rumors | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

The 49ers gave an emphatic NO to the prospect of acquiring Michael Vick when he is released. Despite this look for the 49ers to be in the mix once Vick is released and the Falcons start shopping his rights. The NFL combine started this past weekend. The 49ers would be wise to draft a wide receiver with their 10th pick in the draft. Most impressive WR’s so far have been Maryland’s Darrius Heyward-Bey, Mississippi’s Mike Wallace, Abilene Christian’s Johnny Knox and Missouri’s Jeremy Maclin. Michael Crabtree who suffered a stress fracture to his left foot is still considered the top [...]

Michael Vick, Jeff Garcia Next 49ers QB?

AUTHOR: | IN: Rumors | COMMENTS: None Yet

Over the weekend former 49ers QB Jeff Garcia was released by the Buccaneers. With any QB released that has at least a full year of starting experience, the 49ers will always be rumored to be in the mix. Former Falcon superstar and dog trainer Michael Vick will be released from jail in the coming months and it has been reported the 49ers are interested in the possibility of bringing Vick to the 49ers. 49ers Release Banta-Cain & Lewis

AUTHOR: | IN: 49ers | COMMENTS: None Yet

The 49ers released outside linebacker Tully Banta-Cain and free safety Keith Lewis. This will clear about $3.5 million under the salary-cap. Banta-Cain signed with the Niners in 2007 and had high expectations as he had won two Super Bowls with the Patriots and played well under Bill Belichick. Banta -Casin has only four sacks since he joined the team. Lewis received most of his playing time on special teams which he did very well however he was behind starters Michael Lewis and Mark Roman since he was drafted by the Niners. The Red and Gold were well under the salary-cap [...]

49ers Can Learn from Steelers Super Bowl Win

AUTHOR: | IN: 49ers | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Watching the Steelers and owner Dan Rooney hold up a sixth Super Bowl ring on Sunday made any fan not of the Steelers ask themselves what can my team do to get to the Super Bowl and win? For me and the 49ers it starts with the owners. Every TV shot of Rooney towards the end of the game made me realize if you have incompetent owners, especially ones that are handed 100% control of the team through an agreement with the previous owner (End of an Era) chances of your team doing anything successful are slim. True, it was [...]
