<em>"HEART. DESIRE TO WIN. TEAM-MINDEDNESS. TRASH-TALK propensity (lack thereof). OFF-FIELD criminal record"</em>. I wish everyone on the 49ers had these qualities or at least the people we draft in the first round (minus Patrick Willis). Not only was Ted Ginn, Jr. a miss but I really wanted the 49ers to draft DeSean Jackson last year. They had two opportunties to draft him and passed up on him. Another mistake by Nolan. We could have used a player like Jackson...although he does not exactly fall under the qualities listed above.

2009 DRAFT PREVIEW - I can't name any specific names of prospective college players, but I know one thing: our draft class recently hasn't been very good overall. We've passed up numerous good players (e.g. Ted Ginn, Jr.) who are starting and performing at a high level on other teams, while some of our picks don't even contribute. Stop picking guys based on a 4.4 or 4.5 50-yard time, "quickness" and other such nitpicky robotic pseudo-scientific psycho-babble. These are human beings. Look at this year's playoffs - when was the winner last decided based on jumping and running? Those players in full gear never get anywhere near their top speed potential. What good are all the statistics when you need a first down on 4th and 1? How about some better criteria: HEART. DESIRE TO WIN. TEAM-MINDEDNESS. TRASH-TALK propensity (lack thereof). OFF-FIELD criminal record (ditto). And whatever happened to IQ? These are much better predictors of success than whatever nonsense has been used in the past.
P.S. Love the choice of Rathman at RB coach. That's the type of guy we need to draft.
