Singletary Named Head Coach

AUTHOR: | IN: 49ers | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Shortly after the 49ers impressive come from behind 27-24 win over the Washington Redskins recently anointed owner in charge Jed Joke, I mean York, announced in the 49ers locker room Mike Singletary will be back as head coach under a four-year $10 million contract. Singletary deserved being named head coach especially after finishing over .500 at 5-4 after Sundays win which would have been better than fired head coach Mike Nolan would have finished if he remained through the end. The players not only on defense but on offense have bought into the direction Singletary wants to take the team. [...]

Redskins vs 49ers ~ Final Game :(

AUTHOR: | IN: 49ers | COMMENTS: None Yet

Washington Redskins (8-7) vs. San Francisco 49ers (6-9) Bill Walsh Field at Candlestick Park 1:15 pm (PST) The final weekend of the 2008 NFL season is upon us. At this point in the season I have unfortunately become accustom to the 49ers playing for pride and for draft picks on the final day of the season. The 49ers face off against the Redskins tomorrow as Mike Singletary gets one more chance to make his case to be named head coach. Regardless of a win I believe Singletary deserves and will get the interim tag replaced with official. With a win [...]

49ers QB Situation

AUTHOR: | IN: 49ers | COMMENTS: None Yet

When a team has two Hall of Fame quarterbacks who led you to five Super Bowl rings the thought of your team ever having questions as to who will be under center next year never amounted. The 49er Faithfull has been dealing without the luxury of a consistent and reliable quarterback since Jeff Garcia was released in 2004. We have dealt with the likes of J.T. O’Sullivan, Alex Smith, Trent Dilfer, Ken Dorsey and Tim Rattay. The thought that the 49ers are not any closer now is scary. To win a Super Bowl a team needs a franchise quarterback but [...]

49ers Rally for Win

AUTHOR: | IN: 49ers | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

San Francisco 49ers 17 St. Louis Rams 16 For most of the games this year the 49ers played well for three quarters and failed to finish the game in the fourth quarter (See Eagles, Patriots, Giants and Dolphins games). Yesterday’s game against the Rams was the opposite of recent 49ers losing efforts. The 49ers led by Shaun Hill doing his best impression of former starter J.T. O’Sullivan were doomed to lose to a team much worst than them ended up pulling out the win in the fourth. Through the first three quarters Hill was 8 of 19 for 89 yards, [...]

49ers Update

AUTHOR: | IN: 49ers | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

Amazingly I have not had access to the internet since last week. Since then…. The 49ers lost a game they were fully capable of winning. The Dolphins only managed 14 points and 98 rushing yards. This points to the D and the strides they continue to make and build on each game. One of the TD’s by Miami was a coverage error by Mark Roman where he let the receiver get behind him, but a touchdown is a touchdown. As much as the 49ers are progressing there are still several holes yet to be filled with the offense being the [...]

Gore Not Practicing

AUTHOR: | IN: 49ers | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Frank Gore has not practiced this week and will be a game-time decision this weekend against the Dolphins. If Gore is out the 49ers chances of winning are not good. He is the heart of the offense and if he is not in the backfield the offense is dead. It does not help the 49ers that they play the first games on Sunday playing on the East Coast which means there will be less time to find out if he can go.

Gore’s X-Rays Negative

AUTHOR: | IN: Injuries | COMMENTS: None Yet

Frank Gore who suffered a sprained ankle against the Jets and did not return had x-rays on his hurt ankle which were negative. It is still uncertain whether Gore will be able to even practice this week let alone play in Miami on Sunday. Gore is from Miami and attended the University of Miami so you have to think he will try his hardest to get out on the field. If Gore cannot go on Sunday expect DeShaun Foster to get a bulk of the carries while sharing the load with Michael Robinson and rookie Thomas Clayton who is on [...]

49ers Shoot Down Jets

AUTHOR: | IN: 49ers | COMMENTS: None Yet

New York Jets 14 San Francisco 49ers 24 The 49ers handed the Jets their second straight loss while the 49ers gained their second straight win against a team with a winning record. The 49ers offense and defense were in control early in the game and minus five fumbles by the 49ers (only one was recovered by the Jets) the Red and Gold were impressive throughout the game. The offensive line needed a great game to ward off the Jets and their 4th ranked run stoppers and they did their share. Frank Gore was knocked out of the game in the [...]

Jets vs. 49ers ~ Week 14

AUTHOR: | IN: Gameday | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Playoffs have started in most fanstasy football leagues. Good luck…I hope to win my leagues championship. New York Jets (8-4) vs. San Francisco 49ers (4-8) Bill Walsh Field at Candlestick Park 1:05 pm (PST) The 49ers face the New York Bret’s Sunday at Bill Walsh Field hoping to extend their win last week into a two game winning streak. The 49ers have won 2 of the last 3 games and were expected to lose last week against the Bills. The Jets were expected to win against the Broncos who lost the week before to the Raiders and they were at [...]

Gore Needs More Touches

AUTHOR: | IN: 49ers | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

For the 49ers to have a chance at beating the Jets and their 4th ranked rushing defense this Sunday, Frank Gore needs to have more touches. In games when Gore runs at least 20 times the 49ers usually win. Last week he had 24 touches and the 49ers won. He only had 66 yards rushing and two fumbles (one lost) but that is more because of the lackluster play of the offensive line not creating holes for Gore in which he had to stop and go the other way to find a hole for himself. This is the O-line’s job [...]
