Niners over Bills 10-3. Congrats on the win, '9ers, but don't let it go to your head. Well, it wasn't pretty, but we'll take it. Actually the only reason we did was because the Bills proved even more inept, despite more yards passing and rushing. Muffed Bills field goal in the 4th Qtr helped us, too. Fair job of the Niners defense holding them to 3 points, despite those yards. Most disappointing was the offense - allowed 3 sacks, 4 fumbles, Buffalo was keying on Gore. And with 1st and 10 on the Buffalo 14 with 1:17 remaining, we were incapable of running it in, and too afraid of a turnover to try. Where was Vernon Davis (again?) OK, if you decide on a 1985, Chicago-like strategy of keep away, you can't fumble 4 times (twice by Gore) and rely on only one backfield threat. If you do, that's just what it remains - a threat. And to play that style of offensive keep-away, you need to have the D to back it up. And we don't. Why can`t we grind out the short yardage on 3rd, 4th and short? Move Foster, Robinson in there to spell Gore. And for crying out loud, draft that BIG O-LINE and SMASH-MOUTH FULLBACK. Games are won and lost at the line of scrimmage. The Best Defense is a Good Offense.
