I am very afraid of someone like a Derek Anderson is pick-up by the 49ers. They don't need a QB that has been a starter somewhere else only to be cast-off because they were ineffective. It will be interesting to see how the 49ers handle the QB situation. A lot depends how Shaun Hill plays out the year. Right now he has my vote. Bring in stellar players and surround him with great talent.

Basically agree with your QB analysis. Wait out one more year with S. Hill, A. Smith and JTO as back-ups. Then go for the big QB the year after that. What S. Hill needs is a real supporting cast, and I don't mean more cast-offs from other teams. Jason Hill and Josh Morgan should finally start. The thing I'm afraid of is the Niners pickung up someone like Derek Anderson of Cleveland in the off-season, and naming him their starter. Not the answer. I'd have kept Garcia and Owens a few years longer before I would try that. At least they are still threats in this league, years after we let them go, despite their age. And we are hardly putting the Fear of Death into anybody. I don't see opposing defenses trembling in their Reeboks when facing our O-line and receivers.
