49ers vs. Bills ~ Week 13

AUTHOR: Eric Melendez | IN: 49ers | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

San Francisco 49ers (3-8) vs. Buffalo Bills (6-5)
Ralph Wilson Stadium
10:00 A.M. (PST)

The 49ers travel cross country to face the Bills in what is expected to be a chilly matchup with the game time temperature predicated to be 35 degrees with a chance of snow. The 49ers struggle anytime they have to play on the East Coast and with the weather possibly being a factor the 49ers have tough task to pull out a win. The Bills were on a downslide of their own before beating the lowly Chiefs 54-31 last week. The Bills kept their playoffs hopes alive with [...]

49ers Defense: What Has Gone Wrong?

AUTHOR: Eric Melendez | IN: 49ers | COMMENTS: None Yet

This year the 49ers defense was suppose to be vastly improved with free agent Justin Smith, rookie Kentwan Balmer and Manny Lawson coming back from injury. The 49ers defense was suppose to make progress on last years on NFC Defense Rookie of the Year and tackling freak Patrick Willis and playmaker Nate Clements. This year the 49er D is one of the worst in the league and they went eight straight games of giving up 29 or more points in which they only won one game. The 49ers D last year was ranked 25th in the NFL but that was [...]

49ers vs. Cowboys ~ Week 12

AUTHOR: Eric Melendez | IN: Gameday | COMMENTS: None Yet

Rivalry Game
San Francisco 49ers (3-7)
Dallas Cowboys (6-4)
The 49ers travel south this week to Dallas to take on the Cowboys. The 49ers and Cowboys have had memorable match ups in the past and this Sunday will be no different. Tony Romo’s recent returned from his pinkie finger injury vaulted the Cowboys past the Redskins last week and are staying above water in the NFC playoff hunt. The 49ers are in second place, although 3-7 L , and have no chance of making the playoffs but are looking to build on their recent win against the Rams. The 49ers scored [...]

Hill NFC Offensive Player of the Week

AUTHOR: Eric Melendez | IN: 49ers | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

Shaun Hill received the NFC Offensive Player of the Week award yesterday. I wonder who was the last 49er to win the NFC Offensive Player of the Week award? It was most likely Frank Gore. Which makes me think who was the last 49ers QB to win the award? Steve Young, Jeff Garcia? I wonder…

Are you a fan of Hill yet? If you are not than you might have no choice because the 49ers options at QB in the off-season are grim. The 49ers do not need to waste another high draft pick on a QB to wait for him [...]

49ers Win Big

AUTHOR: Eric Melendez | IN: 49ers | COMMENTS: None Yet

St. Louis Rams 16
San Francisco 49ers 35

To say yesterdays win against the Rams was badly needed is an understatement. To say before the game that the 49ers were going to win big as they did would have been an overstatement. Nevertheless, the 49ers were running almost perfectly on all cylinders as the game was basically over at the end of the first half. First, the 49ers needed Shaun Hill to manage the game without committing turnovers and lead the offense to scoring drives. Check. Second, the 49ers needed their O-line to protect the QB and Frank Gore to allow a [...]

Morgan Out; Gore Misses Practice

AUTHOR: Eric Melendez | IN: 49ers | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

WR Josh Morgan will miss this Sunday’s match-up against the Rams with a groin injury. With fellow WR Arnaz Battle also ruled out for Sunday the 49ers will be thin at a position already receding. Now’s the time for Bryant Johnson to step-up and show why the 49ers signed him in the off-season. We might see a heavy dose of Jason Hill, who doubled his career receptions total Monday, and rookie Dominique Zeigler who was moved up from the practiced squad last week.
Frank Gore missed yesterdays practiced but is scheduled to play on Sunday. If Gore is out, than Football [...]

49ers Lose Nail Biter

AUTHOR: Eric Melendez | IN: 49ers | COMMENTS: None Yet

San Francisco 49ers 24
Arizona Cardinals 29
The game started out well with Allen Rossum running a kickoff return for a TD. The end of the game was the complete opposite. A lot can be said in the 49ers loss last night in the final seconds of the game. Most of it is negative however. A good effort was put up by the 49ers on offense. Shaun Hill showed he can manage a game up until it counts. Head Coach Mike Singletary is the easy man to blame for the game management in the closing seconds with confusion whether to spike the [...]

49ers vs Cardinals

AUTHOR: Eric Melendez | IN: Gameday | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

San Francisco 49ers (2-6) vs. Arizona Cardinals (5-3)
University of Phoenix Stadium
Monday Night Football
5:30 PM (PST)

Much has happened since the 49ers and Cardinals meet in week one. Kurt Warner has found a second life in his career making the Cardinals offense realize its full potential which it could not do the last couple of years. The Cardinals are in first place at 5-3 in the worst division in the NFL which might find the 49ers in second place with a win tonight. That is not saying much for the 49ers but the Cardinals have shown the NFL they are [...]

The Case for Shaun Hill

AUTHOR: Eric Melendez | IN: 49ers | COMMENTS: None Yet

It has been a few days since my last post. I have been caught up in a little thing called the Presidential Election. Not that is was a big deal or anything, but great job America! Way to correct yourself for the past eight years.

Shaun Hill will make his third career start at quarterback, his first on the road, in front of a national audience on Monday Night Football. If there was ever a chance for Hill and the 49ers to make a statement it is on Monday Night Football. In the early stages of training camp I was [...]

49ers Bye Week

AUTHOR: Eric Melendez | IN: 49ers | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

It was nice to not have a Sunday ruined by another 49ers humiliating defeat.
