Shaun Hill will be the starter for the November 10 game against the Arizona Cardinals. This was the right move due to J.T. O’ Sullivan being incapable of holding onto the football and throwing way too many interceptions. The 49ers have a bye week this weekend so Hill will have an extra week to prepare as the man starting under center. What I don’t understand is Mike Singletary said “We may have to use both of them before it’s over.” Why even say that? Right away it diminishes the faith Singletary and Mike Martz have in Hill actually doing a good job and scoring on offense. O’ Sullivan could not get the job done the last eight weeks. What makes the coaches think he might be able to get the job done in the future if Hill struggles? Singletary was on the coaching staff last year and he saw firsthand what Hill can do. Martz may not have much faith in Hill because Hill is more of a check down passer using shorter routes with quick releases to his receivers. O’ Sullivan fit more in the Martz System because of his strong arm and his desire to go for the deep play. But as we all know O’ Sullivan could never get the football released and when he did it was to the defense ending in an interception. With Singletary’s one game endorsement it shows his inexperience as a head coach. Quarterbacks and the rest of the team need to know who will be starting each week. The 49ers need to get the offensive engine running and not being 100% behind your starting QB brings down a team with uncertainly.

Eric Melendez has been a life-long 49ers fan that bleeds Red and Gold. While growing up in Orange, CA he was behind enemy lines when the Rams played in Anaheim in the ’80s and most of the ’90s. This however allowed him to see the 49ers every year when they came into town as his dad had season tickets for the Rams. Having lived in San Francisco since 2008, his appreciation for the Niners has only grown as he is able to cheer on the 49ers with locals at the bar and attend home games.
