Seattle Seahawks 34
San Francisco 49ers 13
Even with the hapless Seahawks, their one win and a backup starting at quarterback none of it could stop the Red and Gold from hitting rock bottom yesterday. Mike Nolan out, hello Mike Singletary. J.T. O’ Sullivan out, hello Shaun Hill. What’s next, the 49ers will hire Condoleezza Rice as team president. HA! Yeah right I give the Joke Family more credit than…damn it: http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/8727104/Report:-49ers-interested-in-Condi-Rice-as-team-prez
I no longer know what to say about this football team. Every aspect of it from the front office, the coaching staff and the players is in such disarray that maybe someone like (Warning Heavy Sarcasm Coming) Condi Rice can come into the organization and turn it around. The Joke Family is so out of touch with their team, it’s fans, and the city of San Francisco that they think hey let’s bring in someone who has been a part of the darkest years the USA has seen and think everything can be turned around. I don’t know what frustrates me more the ugly loss yesterday or the fact that the 49ers are even entertaining the idea of bringing in someone from the Bush Administration. While you are at it why not bring in Karl Rove to put a spin on the current losing season so us 49ers Faithful can feel good about our football and think we are successful.
The 49ers yesterday looked exactly like the Bush Administration. Clueless, out of touch with reality and blatant disregard for the truth. Singletary finally listened to his instincts and took out a struggling O’ Sullivan and replaced him with Hill at quarterback and oh my, we actually gained some yards, scored a touchdown and gave no turnovers to the other team. That was too little to late as O’ Sullivan was finally pulled after an interception was turned 75 yards for a touchdown giving the Seahawks a 20-3 lead right before halftime. I think we can assume Hill will be the starting QB the rest of the way. O’ Sullivan really has no case whatsoever as to why he should remain under center. I think he also believes he should not be the starting QB. On the way to losing their fifth game in a row Vernon Davis was kicked off the field by Singletary for making a costly unnecessary roughness penalty in the fourth quarter. Davis excited to have another catch taunted a Seahawks defender by tipping up their facemask. Davis showed no remorse for the penalty and even avoided the head coach as he came off the field. This lead to Singletary sending Davis to the locker room with 10:41 left in the game. Singletary post-game news conference was awesome: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/object/article?o=1&f=/c/a/2008/10/26/SP5713OMRG.DTL
The biggest anomaly has to be the 49ers defense. Week after week the D continues to make superstars out of unknown players. This week it was Seahawks fullback Leonard Weaver. Weaver had two touchdowns of 43 and 62 yards. Yes, a 242 pound blocking fullback made the 49ers linebackers and secondary look silly. They allowed backup QB Seneca Wallace to pass for 15-25, 222 yards, two touchdowns and only got one sack. The 49ers D forced no turnovers in the game which they badly needed so the offense could get a shorter field to score a touchdown. No one on D is executing, not even Defensive Rookie of the Year Patrick Willis. The 49ers have two weeks to figure out how they want to approach the rest of the season. I am out of ideas and hope they can figure out what is wrong with this team.
O’ Sullivan 13-21, 131 yards, 1 interception
Hill: 15-23 173 yards, 1 touchdown, NO TURNOVERS
Up Next: Bye week. Can the rest of the season be a bye week?
