San Francisco 49ers (2-2) 17
New Orleans Saints (3-1) 31
If there ever was a time the 49ers played as a team it was yesterday in their loss to the Saints. Unfortunately for 49er fans the team collectively played a horrible game on offense and defense. The offense had three turnovers (two interceptions, one fumble), all committed by J.T. O’ Sullivan and gave up six sacks. The defense gave up 31 points allowing Drew Brees to pass for 363 yards while not being sacked once in the game. The secondary gave up passing plays of 21, 33, 47, 52 and 81 yards. [...]

The man who led the Red and Gold to their last Super Bowl ring will have his number 8 jersey retired during halftime on October 5 against the New England Patriots. Steve Young will forever be remembered as the man who succeeded Joe Montana successfully by leading the 49ers to ring number five. I remember the NFC Championship game in 1991 when Montana was knocked out of the game and a lefty wearing number 8 with the name Young on his back came into the game. No 49er fan could have imagined what to make of Young and what he could [...]

CB Shawntae Spencer will have season-ending surgery today on his torn ACL in his left knee. The loss of Spencer will have a big impact on the secondary. Spencer was third on the depth chart and had played well in the first two games before being hurt at the end of the Seahawks game. His backups include Donald Strickland who has missed the last two games with a sprained knee and Tarell Brown who made his first appearance of the season last week against the Lions. Strickland does not know if he will play this weekend against the Saints which [...]

Detroit Lions 13
San Francisco 49ers 31
The 49ers are off to a 2-1 start for the second consecutive year as they mauled the Lions 31-13. J.T. O’Sullivan and the passing looked solid again for the second straight week. O’Sullivan went 16-for-23, 189 yards, two touchdowns with no interceptions…or fumbles! In fact the 49ers had no turnovers in the game and the o-line held up strong allowing only one sack all game. O’Sullivan did his best impression of legend QB Steve Young by rushing for two crucial first downs. Forget about sliding to avoid the coming defender, O’Sullivan dived for the [...]

Detroit Loins (0-2) vs. San Francisco 49ers (1-1)
Bill Walsh Field at Candlestick Park
1:15 PM (PST)
Week 3 finds the 49ers at 1-1 against the worst team in the NFL the Detroit Lions. Offensive Coordinator Mike Martz was fired by wonder boy Matt Millen last season and will lit up the Lions D. Martz did not talk to the media all week and I wonder why? Look for some big plays from J.T. O’Sullivan and his receivers as he will go against Jon Kitna, the man he backed up last year in Detroit. Facing a team at home who has lost their [...]

Okay, so we have had J.T. O’ Sullivan as the starter for two weeks. The first week was bad, too many fumbles, and the second week he played well and put the 49ers in position to win. He looked poised in the pocket even though he got sacked eight times. He was able to get his receivers involved on offense and he made no turnovers. So 49er Faithful, what do we make of O’ Sullivan? Will he keep it up? Is he cable of leading the team to the division title and into the playoffs? Respond in the comments.
I think [...]

San Francisco 49er 33
Seattle Seahawks 30
The San Francisco 49ers won yesterday is dramatic fashion beating divisional rivals the Seahawks 33-30 in overtime. Joe Nedney who missed a game winning field goal as time expired redeemed himself in overtime as he kicked a 41-yard field goal to win the game.
This is what the 49ers needed. A win against the team that has dominated the NFC West for the last five years and on the road in which the Seahawks have fans known to be the loudest in the NFL. QB J.T. O’Sullivan had his coming out game going 20 of 32 [...]

San Francisco 49ers (0-1) vs. Seattle Seahawks (0-1)
Qwest Field
1:05 PM (PST)
The 49ers had a bad game last week against the Cardinals and if they were in any other division they would be the cellar dwellers after week one. Fortunately the 49ers are in the NFC Worst where the Rams, well the 38-3 score last week speaks for itself, and the Seahawks, whose wide receivers seem to have a bad case of karma as injuries have taken out Nate Burleson, Bobby Engram, Deion Branch and Ben Obomanu, are both currently in worst shape than the Niners. But after the division rivals [...]

Alex Smith was placed on injured reserve today ending his season, his time as a 49er, and possibly his career. The latter is speculation but he injured his surgically repaired shoulder that ended his season last year in practice on Friday. Not from contact but from throwing. Blowing out a shoulder for QB is like a running back blowing out his knee which means if Smith does come back he will struggle physically and mentally. General Manager Scot McCloughan recently said the team cannot afford to bring back Smith unless he is a clear-cut starter. Good thing you gave him [...]

Arizona Cardinals 23
San Francisco 49ers 13
Where to start?…five turnovers…back to back fumbles, first one recovered, second one lost…one touchdown on 291 yards of offense…Anquan Boldin shut out in the first-half only to have eight catches in the second-half with six of them going for first downs….no catches for Isaac Bruce, only three for Bryant Johnson…four sacks given up by the O-Line…Cardinals offense on the field for almost all of the third quarter….Insert negative adjective here____
The San Francisco 49ers held tough in a loss yesterday…for only the first quarter. In the first the 49ers D held-off the Cardinals offense as they [...]
