49ers Add Ex-Raider
Former Raiders tackle Barry Sims is expected to sign with the 49ers today. Sims deal is for two years and he is expected to compete at right tackle with injury-prone Jonas Jennings. Signing Sims is a great move even though he has been one of the leaders in false starts the last two years. With Sims on the roster rookie lineman Chilo Rachal can focus more on his natural position, guard, he played at USC. Rachal has been practicing at right tackle the last couple of weeks.
Swapping Lineman:
Back in March the Raiders signed former 49ers lineman Kwame Harris. With the signing of Sims the Bay Area teams basically “traded” tackles through free agency.
