Mike Martz not a candidate for Offensive Coordinator

The always insightful Ira Miller broke this story last night, but it deserves repeating. While the 49ers are going to interview Martz, he is not a candidate for the position of Offensive Coordinator. I think we can all assume from this quote that the inmates are running the asylum in Santa Clara:

Scot McCloughan, the newly-minted general manager, has said that Mike Martz is not a candidate for the offensive coordinator job, but Mike Nolan is planning to interview Martz for the position, anyway.

Does this mean that Nolan is just jerking Martz around? McCloughan isn’t really in control of things even with the title of GM? It hurts the brain to try and understand any of this, but I am here to try for your benefit.

The guys over at 49ersparadise.com are saying that Cam Cameron (this writers choice for the job) is the leading candidate for the OC job for the 49ers and the Rams. Based on what they are writing it sounds like the 49ers have the inside track as the Rams haven’t officially shitcanned anyone yet.

As a final note, it looks like Ashley Lelie is planning on being a 49er next season (while he didn’t get much playing time, he pulled in a nice pay check for not working much). Here’s hoping that whoever takes over at the OC spot (CAM CAMERON!) will know how to use him and he can finally earn some of the York’s money instead of just sitting on the bench.

I’m not sure if I’m commenting on my own comment, but I agree 110% with the comment above.  The writer must be a pulitzer award winning type journalist and for that he must be praised.
